I’m Janine and I’m a Search Engine Optimiser. I have a passion for digging around behind the scenes of websites and working out why they are not performing. I put forward solutions and measure the results after the changes have been made.
What makes me different to other SEO’s is that I have a business background and approach each website as if it was my own. I have been a frustrated business owner myself, trying to make sense of all the techy words and trying to get my head around how some websites end up on page one and some don’t so I appreciate how mind blowing it can all be.
The reason that I do what I do is, to be honest, because I love it! I’m so lucky because my hobby is keeping on top of what’s going on in the search world, I love to learn and in this industry if you’re not continuously learning then you shouldn’t be in it 🙂
I use various different tools to do my job and whilst the data does tell a story, at various points during the audit process, it’s only my experience that allows me to uncover abnormalities, follow a path to resolution and bring the pieces of the puzzle together.
My favourite tool I use is Screaming Frog which scrapes websites and has a look behind the scenes. Ahrefs is my go to software for analysing backlinks and tracking keyword results and of course Google Development Tools and Keyword Planner.
I am lucky enough to be able to work from anywhere I like in the world, all I need is an internet connection and my laptop! With three children and a young dog though, I tend to work from home the majority of the time unless I am out and about meeting clients which is one of the best bits of my job.
So the reason why I chose SEO as my career is because, after having been given the job of looking after a website many years ago, when I didn’t have a clue what it was I was doing, I soon realised that I really liked Search Engine Optimisation and I was good at it! Once I achieved position 1 on page 1 for a number of profitable keywords, I left with the vision of being able to help other frustrated business owners and to tell them the truth about websites and how to optimise them.
It’s my firm belief that business owners work too hard to have their money and time wasted by agencies and developers who promise the world and don’t deliver. SEO can be a minefield and if you don’t know where to start, more often than not you actually won’t. That’s where I come in.
I work with trustworthy Developers, Designers and other professionals who are experts in their own right. Nobody can be an expert at everything and as and when a Digital Marketing Plan requires it, I am confident that I am bringing in the right individual expertise or team.
